Abstract

A molecular marker-assisted selection study was conducted on the protein content of wheat backcross progeny. First, two markers related to protein content, Xgwm570 and E41M62-168, were verified, showing that they are closely related to protein content. Among the BC2 produced through phenotypic selection, molecular marker-assisted selection (MASBC2) and no selection (RNDBC2), the average protein content and the proportion of plants with a protein content higher than 16.5% in the population were not significantly different between PHEBC2 and MASBC2. differences, but both were significantly higher than RNDBC2. The plants in the population are divided into three categories: A (2 sites), B (1 site) and C (none) according to the type of two molecular markers. The average protein content and the protein content in the plants are higher than 16.5 The order of % ratio from high to low is: Type A plants > Type B plants > Type C plants. From this point of view, the use of molecular marker-assisted selection to breed wheat with high protein content is a very effective method.
