Abstract

Objective: To establish a method for the content determination of Momordica charantia L, the antihyperglycemic active ingredient in bitter melon. Method: HPLC was used, Kromasil C18 column (4.6ª©mm¡Á150mm, 5¦Ìm), acetonitrile-water (64:36) as the mobile phase, the flow rate was 1.0mL¡¤min-1, and the detection wavelength was 203nm. Results: Momordica sapogenin L ranged from 0.025 to 1.00 ¦Ìg, and the injection volume and peak area showed a good linear relationship (r=0.9911); the contents of balsam pear sapogenin L in balsam pear from the four producing areas of Shandong, Henan, Hebei, and Jiangxi were 0.211 respectively. ,0.033,0.013,0.007mg¡¤g-1. Conclusion: This method is simple, reliable and can be used to determine the content of Momordica charantia sapogenin L in bitter melon.
