Abstract
The purpose of this experiment was to study the effects of replacing part of soybean oil with flaxseed in feed on the growth performance, muscle composition and serum biochemical indicators of heterotrophic silver crucian carp fry. A total of 336 heterotrophic crucian carp with an average weight of (14.32¡À0.02) g were selected and randomly divided into 4 groups, each group had 3 replicates, and 28 fish were placed in each replicate. Group I was the control group and was fed basic feed; Groups II, III and IV were fed experimental feeds in which 2.40%, 4.80% and 7.20% flaxseed were used to replace 16.67%, 33.33% and 50.00% soybean oil in the basic feed respectively. The trial period is 63 days. The results showed that: 1) Substituting part of soybean oil with flaxseed in the feed had no significant effect on the growth performance of heterotrophic crucian carp (P>0.05). 2) There was no significant difference in the water, crude fat, and crude ash content of fish muscles in each group (P>0.05). The crude protein content of fish muscles in groups III and IV was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). 3) There were no significant differences in serum aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase activities, and triglyceride, cortisol, total protein, albumin, and globulin contents among each group (P>0.05). Serum glucose contents in groups III and IV were significantly lower than the control. group (P<0.05), and the serum cholesterol levels in groups III and IV were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). Therefore, from a production point of view, the dosage of flaxseed instead of soybean oil in the feed of heterotrophic silver crucian carp fry should not exceed 2.40%.
