Abstract
Objective: To observe the effects of intragastric administration of wheat peptide on nitrogen metabolism, gastrointestinal morphology and small intestinal mucosal enzyme activity in rats. Methods: 50 SD rats were randomly divided into blank control group, low, medium and high dose wheat peptide groups (gavage doses were 20, 100 and 500mg/(kg¡¤d) respectively) and wheat protein group 20mg/(kg ¡¤d)), intragastric administration once a day for 30 consecutive days. 24h feces and urine samples of rats were collected in metabolic cages on days 10, 20 and 30 respectively. After 30 days of intragastric administration, the rats were killed by cervical dissection, and serum, gastric and small intestinal mucosa were collected to observe changes in nitrogen metabolism indicators, serum biochemical indicators, gastrointestinal internal surface scanning electron microscopy, and small intestinal mucosal enzyme activity. Results: After 30 days of intragastric administration, low-dose wheat peptides could significantly increase protein digestibility, nitrogen deposition, and net protein utilization in rats (P<0.05); both low- and medium-dose wheat peptides could significantly increase the biological value of rat proteins ( P<0.05); low, medium and high doses of wheat peptides can significantly increase the total protein content in rat serum (P<0.05); the gastrointestinal epithelial cells of rats with low and medium doses of wheat peptides are plumper and more closely connected than those in the blank control group , arranged neatly and orderly; low, medium and high doses of wheat peptides can significantly increase the aminopeptidase activity of the rat small intestinal mucosa (P<0.05); medium and high doses of wheat peptides can all increase the Na+-K+-ATP of the rat small intestinal mucosa. Enzyme activity (P<0.05). Conclusion: A certain dose of wheat peptide can improve the absorption and utilization of protein in rats.
