Selenium And Zinc In Rice Sold In Guangxi

Abstract

Objective To investigate the selenium and zinc content levels of commercially available rice in some areas of Guangxi. Methods According to the principle of random sampling, commercially available rice was collected from 35 districts and counties under the jurisdiction of 6 regions in Guangxi (Nanning, Chongzuo, Baise, Qinzhou, Beihai, and Fangchenggang) from 2015 to 2016. The selenium content is detected according to the hydride atomic fluorescence spectrometry in GB 5009.93-2010. According to GB/T 22499-2008, the selenium content in selenium-rich rice is between 0.04~0.30 mg/kg as the standard for evaluating selenium-rich rice; The zinc content was tested in accordance with GB 5009.14-2010 Determination of Zinc in Foods, and the zinc content level in rice was analyzed. As a result, a total of 710 portions of rice were collected, of which 275 portions were selenium-rich rice, with a selenium-rich rice ratio of 38.7%. The average selenium content was 0.048 mg/kg, with a maximum value of 0.164 mg/kg; the average zinc content was 13.3 mg/kg. The maximum value is 25.6 mg/kg. The average selenium content in commercially available rice meets the requirements of selenium-rich rice, and the zinc content also exceeds the average zinc content of 12 mg/kg in polished rice reported by the International Rice Research Institute.
