Abstract

‘Huabiyu’ bitter melon is a new hybrid variety bred by using the strong female line z-1-4 as the female parent and the high-generation inbred line 88-3-7 as the male parent. The plant has strong growth potential, strong branching ability, short internodes, and early maturity. The first female flower node is located at the 6th to 8th node of the main vine. The node position of the side vines is lower. The side vines are separated by about 3 nodes for 2 to 3 consecutive years. A female flower. The commercial melon is about 40cm long, about 5.6cm in transverse diameter, about 0.9cm thick in flesh, about 340g in weight per melon, green, with sharp spines on young fruits, moderate bitterness, and a yield of more than 48t¡¤hm-2. Tolerant to low temperature, resistant to powdery mildew and downy mildew. Suitable for planting in Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong and Shandong.
