Protective Effect Of Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein Peptides On Acute Alcohol-Induced Gastric Mucosal Injury In Rats

Abstract
Objective: To study the protective effect of hydrolyzed wheat protein peptides on gastric mucosal damage in a rat model of acute alcoholic injury. Methods: 60 Wistar rats were randomly divided into blank control group, gastric mucosal injury model control group, and hydrolyzed wheat protein peptide low, medium, and high-dose groups (doses were 167, 333, and 667 mg/(kg¡¤d) respectively (based on Body weight, the same below), positive control group (cymetamidine group 65 mg/(kg¡¤d)), 10 animals in each group. Gastric mucosal damage was caused by alcohol gavage. After administration of hydrolyzed wheat protein peptide for 30 days, the gross changes and pathological changes of gastric mucosal tissue were observed, and the serum malondialdehyde (MDA) and platelet-activating factor (platelet- activating factor (PAF), epidermal growth factor (EGF), prostaglandin E-2 (PGE2), interleukin-8 (IL-8) content and superoxide dismutase (superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, and expression levels of caspase 3 (caspase 3) and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in rat gastric tissue. Results: Hydrolyzed wheat protein peptide can significantly improve gastric mucosal tissue damage, reduce damage score (P<0.05), and increase damage inhibition rate; each dose group can increase rat serum PGE2 content, EGF content, SOD activity and gastric tissue EGFR expression. level, reducing the serum MDA content, IL-8 content and gastric tissue Caspase 3 expression level in rats (P£¼0.05). The low- and medium-dose groups could reduce the serum PAF content (P£¼0.05). Conclusion: Hydrolyzed wheat protein peptide has a certain protective effect on acute alcohol-induced gastric mucosal injury in rats, and its mechanism may be related to enhancing gastric mucosal protective factors, improving antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic effects.
