Abstract

Abstract Zinc and iron participate in many biochemical reactions in the body during plant growth and development. Zinc and iron deficiency or excess will have certain effects on plants. Therefore, plants require a series of metal transporters to work together to maintain ion balance in the body. These transporters can be divided into two categories: absorption proteins and efflux proteins. They participate in the transmembrane transport of zinc and iron ions in cells and regulate the balance and distribution of zinc and iron ions in cells. At present, the connection between the transcriptional expression level of zinc-iron transporters in plant cells and the accumulation and distribution of zinc-iron ions in plants has been revealed, and many related gene family members have been isolated and cloned. This review summarizes the research progress related to the expression and localization of the protein family involved in zinc and iron transport discovered and identified in recent years.
