Abstract

Tissue engineering is a new idea in the field of modern repair and reconstruction medicine. Biological scaffolds and seed cells are the two key elements of tissue engineering. Self-assembled polypeptide nanofiber scaffolds (SAPNS) are a new type of biological scaffold with a three-dimensional network structure that are self-assembled by amphiphilic polypeptides (PAs) molecules under certain conditions. Its structure, biological functions, mechanical mechanics and other characteristics are similar to those of natural Extracellular matrix (ECM), in which functionally modified epitopes are presented on the surface of nanofibers at high concentrations and efficiently and selectively regulate the biological behavior of seed cells. Seed cells are necessary for successful tissue regeneration, and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) have become the best candidate cells for tissue engineering due to their good self-renewal and multi-directional differentiation potential. In vitro experiments have shown that specifically functionalized SAPNS can promote the adhesion, proliferation, migration and directional differentiation of BMSCs with or without cofactors. In vivo experiments in animal models have found that tissue engineering grafts constructed by SAPNS combined with BMSCs can repair tissue defects. structure and function, so it has good application prospects in repair and reconstruction medicine.
