Abstract

Baculoviruses are multifamily viruses whose obligate hosts are invertebrates. As effective biopesticides, they have broad application prospects. The glycoproteins it contains play an important role that cannot be ignored in the life cycle of virus reproduction and host infection, especially in cell recognition, secretion, and protein processing, folding, and stability. Different glycoproteins and different connection methods have different functions. Studies have shown that the primary role of N-glycan is to induce the conformation necessary for its function. The baculovirus GP64 protein is a receptor cell junction protein and a component of the telomere of viral particles. GP37 glycoprotein may play an important role in the insect virus replication cycle. When studying the glycosylation levels of proteins in the cytoplasm and nucleus, it was found that when T lymphocytes are activated, the glycosylation levels in the nucleus increase rapidly, while the protein glycosylation levels in the cytoplasm decrease. Therefore, during biosynthesis, glycoproteins lacking certain glycans or blocking a certain step of glycosylation will lead to impaired transport of molecules within the cell and abnormal function.
